Understand your Admissibility Requirements and request a Letter of Admissibility
If you want to import a Mercedes-Benz from the US into Canada, you will have to request a Letter of Admissibility from Mercedes-Benz prior to proceeding with your importation.
Mercedes-Benz provides an online admissible vehicles list and give potential importers the ability to request a Letter of Admissibility through an online request form.
Note: that the Letter of Admissibility is only issued in hard copy and will be sent to you by mail.

The Mercedes Benz process is much more punitive than the BMW process. I imported a BMW but originally was going to buy a MB. They have admissibility letters but require ALL parts that differ to be changed by Mercedes Benz dealer and then wait till the 1 person from Head Office in Ontario comes to your area to review the work and release the vehicle. I was told that this person would take 4-6 weeks to get around to a specific area. In the mean time MB would not allow you to drive the vehicle. I was quoted figures like 12,000 dollars to retrofit the vehicle. I wrote to MB Canada to complain and they ignored the letter (worded in a diplomatic manner). BMW may charge $500 + $350 + possibly speedo change/day lights but this is small compared to MB.
