If you are importing a BMW vehicle from the US you may wish to confirm if your vehicle will have to undergo the instrument cluster changeover.
To do so you will require to know the BMW Model codes and to which model they refer. You can refer to this table provided by Turner Motorsport to verify the model codes, after reviewing the BMW Service Bulletin referring to this cluster modification.
We thank a UCanImport subscriber for forwarding this link which we hope will save importers a lot of energy in determining if their vehicle will require the modification.

The 335I convertible and coupe require the instrument cluster swap.
So, are you saying that the 328i coupe doesn't require the instrument cluster swap?
I ask because I've been in contact with a lot of dealers in Ontario regarding the 328i coupe and they show me comparisons of the Canadian price vs the U.S. price after importation. They always show the cluster swap fee but maybe they're misleading me if only the 335i needs it.
May 29th. I just spoke to BMW Canada, Phil at the head office and he informed me that BMW Canada requires ALL E90 Series to have the KOMBI Clusters replaced. When I asked him about the service Bulletin he said those are not for public disclosure. If you are looking at an E90 Series don't believe what you read here, check with BMW Canada
Thanks for your post jrh.
Your advise is excellent. Not only should people be aware that they may have to fork out the funds to have the instrument cluster modification, they should check with both their local dealership and BMW Canada to confirm exact nature of modifications and costs.
The BMW Bulletin that we have published is simply proof that changeovers are required on vehicles imported from the US and certainly not meant to replace prudent due diligence on the part of the importer.
We have heard that certain models will require a heater conversion in addition to the instrument cluster changeover. So, we encourage you to submit the VIN of your vehicle when asking for a quote for modifications.
